Description

It’s a very quiet night in the mountains, and the only sound is the steady rain falling against the large skylights. From the bed, you can see the dark silhouettes of the pine trees and the distant peaks through the raindrops on the glass. Inside, the attic feels warm and safe, lit by the soft glow of string lights and several candles scattered around the room.

A cat is fast asleep on the soft blankets, right next to a tray with warm drinks and another small candle. The low wooden ceiling and the many pillows and rugs make this small corner feel like the perfect place to hide away from the weather. There’s a large plant in the corner casting soft shadows against the wooden wall as the night goes on. I hope the rhythm of the rain hitting the windows helps you relax, clear your mind, or fall into a deep, natural sleep tonight.

Enjoy the peace of this rainy night.

A few words about how this video was created:

The Visual Workflow: The base image starts with an AI concept, but that is just the beginning.

Manual Compositing: I extensively retouch, color-grade, and split the image into layers using Photoshop and GIMP to create realistic depth.

Animation: In DaVinci Resolve Studio, I combine different techniques. I use Real Footage Overlays for weather effects (like rain, fire or dust) to ensure organic movement. For characters like the sleeping pets, I utilize AI animation tools to bring them to life, which are then carefully integrated into the scene.

Detail: A single scene often consists of up to 35 individual layers. This complexity is necessary to blend the animation, the overlays, and the background into a cohesive video.

Audio Engineering & Soundscape: This is where the most work happens. A thunder or rain scene often contains over 50 individual sound clips to create a High Fidelity experience.

Field Recording: I capture many sounds myself to ensure unique textures. My gear includes the Tascam Portacapture X8, Clippy EM272, Tascam DR-40, and Zoom H2n.

Mixing & Mastering: Audio clips are processed in Audacity and FL Studio to adjust timing and dynamics.

Spatial Depth: Finally, I mix everything in DaVinci Resolve, using careful Layering to create a rich stereo panorama that sounds good on headphones and speakers.

This hybrid process takes up to 13 hours per video. My goal is to combine the visual depth and sound design into a high atmospheric density that feels "real" and comforting.
