Description

Tucked away in this rustic, cozy mountain cabin, the wild summer thunderstorm outside feels far away. A steady, heavy rain is pouring down on the skylights and large glass doors, drumming against the glass as dark clouds pass over the pine forest. But inside, by the warmth of the large crackling stone fireplace, is just pure serenity.

The soft glow from the multiple string lights, candles, and the flickering hearth fills the room with warm, inviting light. A cat is peacefully sleeping on the main sectional sofa, completely undisturbed by the distant, deep rumble of thunder. A large dog lies among the throw pillows on the rug, both completely safe and sheltered from the weather. It’s the kind of night that invites you to pull the blankets high, enjoy a hot drink, and let the rhythmic sounds of the storm and the fire wash away your worries. I hope this atmosphere brings some stillness to your evening, whether you’re working, relaxing, or just trying to drift off.

Enjoy the stillness of this stormy mountain haven.

A few words about how this video was created:

AI is everywhere today and is flooding the internet with content. The real problem is not creators who use AI as a tool, but the enormous amount of automatically generated, lifeless videos without any form of editing or refinement.
That is exactly why I want to openly show how my videos are created and be transparent about the use of AI.

The process starts with an AI-generated image (from common image AIs such as Leonardo, Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, etc.). However, this image is only the starting point. It is then extensively edited manually in GIMP and/or Photoshop: errors are retouched, lighting moods are adjusted, details are changed or added. After that, I split the image into multiple layers to deliberately create depth and movement later on.

The animation is then created in DaVinci Resolve. Here, I combine different elements such as real video footage, 3D renderings, and occasional small AI animations (animals). This step is very time-consuming, and a single project often ends up consisting of up to 35 layers.

A particularly large part of the work goes into the sound design. Especially in thunderstorm scenes, a single audio track can consist of up to 50 individual sound clips. Many of these recordings were captured by myself using various devices (including the Tascam DR-40, Zoom H2n, and Blue Yeti microphone). In addition, a small number of royalty-free CO0 sounds are used. All sound sources are carefully layered, edited, and balanced. Individual sound clips are processed in Audacity and partly with the help of FL Studio, where timing, dynamics, and tonal balance are manually adjusted. The final soundscape is then assembled and mixed in DaVinci Resolve, resulting in a unique, living atmosphere that develops organically and could (hopefully) never be replicated by a purely automated AI workflow.

Once the image, animation, and sound form a cohesive whole, small details are added, such as my “Cozy Timez” logo at the beginning, and the scene is then rendered. By this point, up to 13 hours of work can go into a single video.

This video is the result of a hybrid, handcrafted process:
AI serves as a creative tool, but the atmosphere, depth, and mood are created through many conscious, manual decisions.

I hope this explanation was able to give you a small insight into my work, and I wish you a cozy and relaxing time with this video.
